Japan grants Togo 2.76 billion CFAF to buy rice and wheat

Japan has granted Togo 460 million Yen (about 2.760 billion CFAF) to buy rice and wheat under a food aid project to ensure food security in the West African state, reliable sources told PANA on Tuesday in Lomé.

According to terms of the grant signed between the two countries, the money would be used to buy rice and wheat that would be sold at a 'reasonable' price to vulnerable populations in Togo.

It was signed by the Togolese minister in charge for Foreign Affairs, Elliott Ohin, and the Japanese ambassador to Togo, Susumu Inoue.

The money raised from the sales would be used by Togo finance socio-economic projects identified and agreed by the two countries.
