Actions to stop escaping Islamist extremists from entering its territories

Security - To ensure that Islamist extremists being routed from northern Mali do not enter Libyan territories, Tripoli has started wide consultations with neighbours - Tunisia, Algeria, Mali, Chad and Niger, according to the Libyan Prime Minister, Ali Zeidan.

Zeidan told newsmen that Libya had made concrete arrangements in its borders with Algeria and Niger in an effort to cope with the influx of refugees from Mali which, he said, could cause the kind of crises never experienced before.

He announced Libya's participation in the extraordinary summit of the Sahelo-Saharan countries, scheduled to take place in N’Djamena, Chad, on 16 February, indicating that the meeting would focus on security issues.
