The just concluded 2013 Africa Cup of Nations in South Africa has claimed the life of another soccer fan in the country, following the death of a retired banker while watching the tournament final between Nigeria and Burkina Faso Sunday.
A source at the Eko Hospital in Lagos said the 65-year-old banker, Felix Bassey, was pronounced dead at the hospital, where he was rushed after collapsing during the tension-soaked match, which Nigeria won 1-0.
The source said the man mostly likely died of a heart-related ailment.
Another Nigerian fan, 40-year-old Moshood Owolabi, died after slumping while watching the tough quarter-final match between Nigeria and Cote d'Ivoire Nigeria won the match 2-1.
