The British government has welcomed the total destruction by Libya of the chemical weapons stockpiled by the fallen regime of Mouammar Kadhafu, the local media reported, quoting British Minister for the Middle East and North Africa Hugh Robertson.
'I congratulate Libya on making a step forward in the destruction of the chemical weapons banned internationally,' he said.
Robertson also urged Tripoli to work hard to meet the ongoing challenges related to security and democratic transition in the country.
On Tuesday, the Libyan Foreign Ministry announced the total destruction of chemical weapons that threatened the security of the country and the region.
The destruction was supported logistically and technically by the United States, Canada and Germany.
