Results 2013 AFCON: Nigerian fans in spontaneous celebration after victory

Nigeria's 1-0 victory over Burkina Faso to win the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations in South Africa - Spontaneous celebrations broke out across Nigeria's commercial city of Lagos on Sunday, following the country's 1-0 victory over Burkina Faso to win the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations in South Africa.


At the Teslim Balogun stadium on the city's mainland, where hundreds of players gathered to watch the match on a big screens, the celebration was particularly massive.

The fans, who had hailed every move by the Eagles during the match, went wild in jubilation after the Algerian referee blew the final whistle.

'Everyone is happy, they (Super Eagles) did us proud...Kudos to Keshi,' a fan said.

'We Nigerians are all happy. We thanked Keshi for making us proud today. We thank the Super Eagles, This is big,' another fan said.

Elsewhere across the city, firecrackers lit up the night sky, while drivers honked their vehicles' horns in celebration.

Fans who chose to watch the match on big screens at drinking joints started their celebrations right after the match, and are sure to drink all through the night.
