Football 2013 AFCON: Nigerian billionaire gives Super Eagles US$1m - In what is sure to be the start of money rain on new African champions Super Eagles of Nigeria, billionaire businessman Mike Adenuga has given the team US$1 million for its victory in Sunday's final of the 2013 African Cup of Nations in South Africa.
According to the local media on Monday, the Nigerian telecommunications and oil guru also announced a cash gift of US$200,000 for coach Stephen Keshi, while promising to take over the payment of the coach's salary from next month.
Dr. Adenuga announced the package shortly after the Super Eagles beat the Stallions of Burkina Faso 1-0 to win the trophy for the first time in 19 years.
President Goodluck Jonathan will host the players at the in the capital city of Abuja Tuesday evening, at which the government's package for the players are expected to be announced.
