Tropical cyclone warning issued in Mauritius

Port-Louis, Mauritius - The Mauritius Meteorological Services Tuesday announced that a tropical cyclone is evolving to the North-west of the island of St-Brandon, about 500km to the North of Mauritius.


It said the cyclone was located in latitude 16.1 degrees south and longitude 59.5 degrees east, and is moving in a general southerly direction at about 15km/h.

The Meteorological Services said on this trajectory, the cyclone is approaching Mauritius dangerously, hence a cyclone warning class I has been issued.

It said the strong winds with gust reaching around 80 to 100 km/h will pass over the island by Wednesday evening.
