Society: Angola promises humanitarian assistance to CAR's populations - Angola will provide humanitarian assistance to populations affected by the war in the Central Africa Republic (CAR), according to the Angolan Vice President Manuel Domingos Vicente, who is attending the Summit of African leaders in the Ethiopian capital, Addis Ababa.
The prevailing situation in CAR is appalling and Angola hopes that the new leaders there will work quickly towards restoring law and order, Vicente said.
According to him, Angola will work with regional institutions and players to find a negotiated solution to the CAR crisis.
Vicente also affirmed that Angola was convinced that military action will not solve the conflict in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).
'That is why,' he said, 'Angola has committed itself, as the acting president of the International Conference of Great Lakes Region, to intensify efforts together with its regional partners to see the political process in DRC through.
