AFCON 2013 results: Appiah happy at semi-final berth

2013 AFCON South Africa - Ghana coach Kwesi Appiah says he is happy to reach the semi-finals of the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations tournament but wants to correct 'some deficiencies' that hampered his team's performance against Cape Verde in quarter-final match on Saturday.

The Black Stars beat the Blue Sharks 2-0 in Port Elizabeth with a brace from substitute Mubarak Wakaso.

Ghana will play the winner of Sunday's clash between Burkina Faso and Togo.

“The first half was okay.” Appiah said after the game, according to the official Ghana Football Association (GFA) webstie. “The second half was not one of our best games but I think we've got more room for improvement.”

“We were playing so well until when we had the first goal. That was when we had some deficiencies in our midfield.”

“On a whole our mental attitude was really good. Cape Verde dominated the second half, but we stood up and and the most important thing was that we got the win at the end of the day,” he added.
