U.S. Investor to Set Up Antiseptic Plant : A New york based Acclaym Company is planning to set up a non-toxic antiseptic manufacturing plant in the country that will employ more than 500 people. The company's Chairman of the medical advisory board, Dr Riyaz Hassanali, told a news conference in Dar es Salaam that they were currently studying the market.
He said they were also learning how the private-public partnership (PPP) works and bureaucracy of opening up a company.
He said they aimed to make Tanzania a resource centre for the manufacturing and distribution of Acclaym wide range of products to the rest of Africa.
Dr Hassanali said they opted to manufacture the product locally since apart from creating jobs, the government will benefit from taxes which can be directed to cater for other social needs.
He said to start with they had distributed antiseptic cream for hand hygiene to various hospitals, health and diabetic centres, and patients to reduce unnecessary infections.
"It helps patients and especially diabetics with cuts or wound as it facilitates easy healing and prevents infection," he said.
