The maiden Raymond-Zarpa trophy, rewarding the best french coach in Africa, has been won by Pascal Janin, coach of Stade Malien FC of Bamako. who also wins both the championship cup and semifinalist of the Confederation Cup during 2012-2013 session.
The trophy was awarded by a jury, including 11 well-known figures and friends of Raymond Zarpanelian, who died two years ago. He was Sierra Leone's coach at the 1994 CAN and coached ASFB of Burkina Faso.
Organizers said the trophy will be awarded each year to a French coach based in Africa who excelled in his job during the year in review.
Janin won the trophy with 33 points over 11 points scored by Mauritanian national team's coach, Sebastien Desabre.
Janin was also named the best coach in Mali by the Sports Journalists Association of Mali (AJSM).
