Mauritius-Gross Domestic Product - The Central Statistics Office of Mauritius said on Sunday that the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of the island would grow by 4.5% in 2011 against 4.3% last year. In its latest bulletin, published on Sunday in Port-Louis, the Mauritian capital, the Office said it based its conclusion on the rising sugar production with the manufacturing sector growing by 3.6% against 2.1% in 2010.
Estimates for other economic sectors are as follows: 1% for construction against 4.3% in 2010, 4% for hotels and restaurants with an estimated 980,000 tourists; 5.5% for transport and communications and 5.7% for financial intermediation.
