Politics-Gambia - The Gambian President Yahya Jammeh has appointed the first batch of ministers following last week's dissolution of his cabinet after elections late last year.
A statement from President Jammeh’s office in Banjul on Monday also announced that the country’s long-serving Vice-President, Isatou Njie-Saidy has been reappointed to her position.
In a similar move, the Gambian leader reappointed Mr. Mambury Njie as the Finance and Economic Affairs Minister.
Mr. Ousman Sonko, Interior Minister and Mrs Fatou Mass Jobe, Tourism and Culture Minister, have also returned to their respective positions.
In all, four ministerial positions out of 16 have been filled and President Jammeh is yet to name the rest.
President Jammeh on February 3 declared his cabinet dissolved and sacked all the ministers after his reelection in the November presidential poll.
