Lagos, Nigeria - The Appeals Committee of World soccer's governing body FIFA was due Wednesday to hear the appeal filed by Nigeria's FIFA Executive Committee member Amos Adamu, who was banned for three years and fined 10,000 Swiss Francs (about US$10,000) over the cash-for-vote scandal. The global soccer body will also hear the appeals by another suspended Executive Committee member, Reynald Temarii of Tahiti, as well as Slim Aloulou of Tunisia, Amadou Diakite of Mali and Ahongalu Fusimalohi from Tonga.
Only Ismail Bhamjee of Botswana has not appealed his ban.
The officials were suspended last December by FIFA's Ethics Committee, which found them guilty following an inquiry into World Cup vote-selling allegations levelled against them by a British newspaper, The Sunday Times.
If their suspensions are upheld, the officials can still seek redress at the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS); which has the power to overturn the Appeal Committee's verdicts.
The hearing will be held at FIFA’s headquarters in Zurich, Switzerland.
