Football-Egypt - Egypt's most capped Footballer of all time, Ahmad Hassan, has officially joined Egyptian giants Zamalek. Hassan, who was dropped by Zamalek's bitter arch rivals Ahly after his contract expired, signed a two-year deal with the White Knights on Tuesday. The 37-year-old midfielder will be earning half a million dollars annually. Hassan is Zamalek's first signing since the arrival of former Egypt national team coach Hassan Shehata.
Shehata who recently replaced Egypt's all time scorer Hossam Hassan as Zamalek boss, will be looking to get Cairo's talented boys back to their winning ways after having missed out on local and continental trophies for the past seven years.
Hassan, nicknamed the Hawk, is the world's third most capped player with 175 internationals, during which he scored 32 goals.
Hassan started his career with Maghagha club in upper Egypt. He then moved to Aswan, and from there to Ismaily before playing in Turkey for eight years.
The Egyptian played for four different teams in Turkey, including renowned Besiktas. He also played a couple of years with Belgium's Anderlecht before returning home.
Ahmad Hassan captained the Egyptian squad in all three triumphs at the African Cup of Nations in 2006, 2008, and 2010, where he was named Most Valuable Player (MVP) in 2006 and 2012 tornaments.
Zamalek fans will be hoping the reunification of Coach Shehata and Captain Hassan will bear as much success for the club as it bore none for the country.
