Luanda, Angola – The director general of FAO, Jacques Dioup, arrived here Sunday to begin a 48-hour visit to Angola, aimed at reinforcing co-operation between his institution and the Angolan government.

Speaking to the press at arrival at the airport, Dioup said he was in Angola to bid farewell to the Angolan government and thank for its support during his term at the FAO.

Dioup’s term will terminate on 31 December, 2011, and he will be succeeded by José Graziano da Silva of Brazil.

According to his agenda, Dioup will meet the Ministers of Environment, Agriculture, Rural Development and Fisheries and Foreign Affairs.

He will also meet the representatives of the FAO and other UN agencies in Angola.
