Niamey, Niger - The European Union (EU) is currently considering how to support Niger, Mali, Algeria and Mauritania in the fight against terrorism, drug dealers and internal and external security threats, the EU Director of External Relations for West and Central Africa, Manuel Lopez Blanco, announced here Wednesday. Blanco unveiled the EU plan in an audience with the President of Niger, Mahamadou Issoufou, to whom he presented the EU strategy on security and development in the Sahel.
'The goal was to make a presentation of issues on which the four countries (Algeria, Mauritania, Mali and Niger) form a convergence and a common mission,' said Blanco.
He also said he discussed with the Nigerien head of state the resumption of cooperation between EU and Niger.
