Brussels, Belgium -The European Union (EU) is going to launch a new development aid policy primarily aimed at achieving respect for human rights in the recipient countries and poverty eradication, the European Commission for Development, Andris Piebalgs, said Thursday in a new conference held in Brussels.
To this end, the EU defined a programme for the change of the development policy and a reform of the budgetary support of its commission.
The European official explained that the EU future expenses will be concentrated on the inclusive and sustainable growth basic sectors, and are aimed at countries that mostly need external aid and situations where aid can make a difference.
This new strategy will be implemented as from 2014, Andris Piebalgs pointed out.
