Cape Verde records 4.5% inflation in Dec. 2011 - Inflation in Cape Verde in December 2011 stood at 4.5%, double the rate at the same time in 2010, according to the country's National Institute of Statistics (INE).
In the last 5 years, the average inflation rate in Cape Verde has been 3.42%.
The lowest rate, 1%, was recorded in 2009, after the country experienced in 2008 the highest inflation rate (6,8%), as against 4.4% in 2007 and 4.8% in 2006.
Inflation rate grew In the first four months of 2011, with an annual average rate (Consumer Price Index) of 3.3%.
The increase was due to the rise in commodity prices, especially that of oil.
