Development programme for peace, security - The Special Programme for Peace, Security and Development in Northern Mali (PSPSDN) was launched Tuesday at a ceremony, presided over by the Malian Head of State, Amadou Toumani Touré.

The PSPSDN covers projects whose costs are up to 33 billion CFA francs and entirely financed by the development partners. The first phase of the projects will cost 11 billion CFAF and the second phase 22 billion CFAF.

The programme covers the construction and rehabilitation of barracks, advanced security posts, gendarmerie brigades and police stations.

PANA reported that the project will also cover the construction of infrastructures for the local communities like health units, schools, modern drills, housing and administrative offices.
