Kenyan Cheruiyot nominated for World Sportswoman of the Year - Kenyan runner Vivian Cheruiyot is among the nominees for the World Sportswoman of the Year, at Monday evening's 2012 Laureus World Sports Awards ceremony in London.
According to world athletics governing body IAAF, Cheruiyot emerged from last year’s World Championships in Daegu, South Korea, as one of the sport’s biggest stars.
She added both the World 5000m and 10,000m titles to the World Cross Country crown she won earlier in the year.
Jamaican runner Usain Bolt tops the list of nominees for the World Sportsman of the Year.
Bolt, the 2011 World Athlete of the Year and World 200m champion has received the award twice, first following his 2008 double Olympic gold and World record campaign and again after this spectacular double World title and World record achievements the following year.
