Football-Nigeria - Kaduna United of Nigeria's chief coach Maurice Cooreman says he is stunned by his team's 4-1 walloping in the hands of Interclube of Angola Sunday in the CAF Confederation Cup.
He told the official website of African football's governing body, CAF, that the defeat was too heavy and totally unexpected, especially since his team played 1-1 with the Angolan club in the first leg.
'Interclube’s attack was just overwhelming and with my team on the defensive almost all the way,' Cooreman said after the game, which was played in Luanda, the Angolan capital.
'Kaduna (United) was not in the race (game) at all and we were not coordinated and could hardly respond and it cost us the match,' he said.
Even the coach of Interclube, which has now advanced to the semi-final, expressed shock at how easily the Nigerians succumbed to defeat.
'We played well and won convincingly. We were better and had better scoring opportunities and took advantage of all this. We have done well, but we have to work harder to improve some things,' said Antonio Caldas.
