Cotonou, Benin - The Chadian president, Idriss Déby Itno, was due Wednesday evening in Cotonou for a working visit to Benin, diplomatic sources said in the Beninese capital. During the visit, the Chadian president will, together with his Beninese counterpart, Boni Yayi, discuss several cooperation issues between the two countries. He will visit the campus of Abomey-Calavi university in the outskirts of Cotonou to commission the make-shift accommodation (tents) built by the Chadian presidency for Beninese students to make up for the lack of infrastructure in the institution.
Cooperation between the two countries, established since 1960, is mainly in the area of trade.
The Cotonou port has been serving as transit port for goods destined for Chad, a landlocked country.
