Luanda, Angola - The first batch of the Angolan delegation to the 2011 All-Africa Games in Maputo, Mozambique, returned home Monday with a total of 26 medals. The team was received on arrival by the vice governor of Luanda, Juvelina Imperial, as well as the vice ministers of Youth and Sports, Yaba Alberto and Albino da Conceição, among other sports officials.

The team was made up of male and female handballers, paralympic taekwondoists, judokas, swimmers and tennis players.

In the Maputo games, which took place from 3 to 18 September, Angola won 6 gold medals, 10 silver and 10 bronze, occupying the 10th place on the medals table.

In the 2007 All-Africa Games in Algeria, Angola won 12 medals, including four gold mdals, and placed 13th overall.
