Lagos, Nigeria - The four-yearly African sports extravaganza, the All Africa Games, will henceforth be organised by the Association of National Olympic Committees of Africa (ANOCA) and the Union of Africa Sports Confederations (AASC), ANOCA sai. The Nigeria-based ANOCA said in a statement obtained by PANA here Thursday that the Supreme Council for Sports in Africa (SCSA), which hitherto organised the Games, would stop doing so from January 2012, at the end of the extraordinary General Assembly of the body to be held in the Nigerian capital, Abuja, in January 2012.
'All missions of the SCSA shall thereafter be passed on to the African Union Commission,' the statement said, adding that the decision was sequel to the recommendations of Africa Sports Ministers Conference.
The conference recommended the reconstitution of the SCSA into a body to be known as 'Consultative Council for Sports in Africa', with headquarters in Yaounde, Cameroon.
While ANOCA will handle the organisation and management of the All Africa Games, AASC will take charge of the technical aspects of the Games.
