Luanda, Angola - Miss Universe 2011, Angolan Leila Lopes, has pledged to help project her country's image abroad during her reign.
At a press conference here, Lopes said her reign had offered her the platform to contribute to the promotion of Angola, saying 'the world needs to know the Angolan 'wonders' and everything that has been done to improve the people's living standards.'
Meanwhile, Angolan president José Eduardo dos Santos, and his wife, Ana Paula, were on hand Thursday at a gala night, organized by the Miss Angola Organizing Committee, in honour of Lopes.
The 25-year-old won her beauty crown at the Miss Universe contest which was held in September in Brazil.
