56th year-end race in Angola

Organizers satisfied with 56th year-end race in Angola - The Chairman of the Angolan Athletics Federation, Carlos Rosa, has expressed satisfaction with the 56th edition of Luanda’s Saint Sylvester year-end race held over the weekend.

Rosa said the race was very competitive this year, as the first four finishers were separated by only three seconds, unlike in 2010 when Ethiopian Haile Gebrselassie won hands down.

Eritrean long distance runner Zersenay Tadese won the 56th edition of the 10-km race in 27 minutes and 44 seconds.

Interclube’s runner Joao Alexandre was the first Angolan runner to finish.
