Luanda, Angola - The Prime Minister of Portugal, Pedro Passos Coelho, arrived here Wednesday to begin a 48-hour visit to Angola at the invitation of the Angolan President, José Eduardo dos Santos.

The Portuguese Premier’s visit is aimed at strengthening bilateral cooperation between the two countries.

Coelho is due for a meeting Thursday with President dos Santos, and the speaker of the National Assembly, António Paulo Kassoma, before undertaking a visit to facilities of the Angolan parliament in Luanda.

During his stay in Angola, the Portuguese Premier will also attend an official lunch offered by the Angolan Head of State and later meet with Angolan and Portuguese entrepreneurs.

He will also visit Luanda’s Sanatorium Hospital, Angolan Catholic University and Luanda’s Portuguese School.

The visiting Prime Minister will also visit the National Military History Museum before returning to Portugal on Friday morning.
