2 Malian films selected for WAEMU’s international festival - Two Malian films have been selected to feature at the International Short Films Festival, tagged 'Clap Ivoire', to be held in Abidjan, Cote d'Ivoire, 30 Nov.-4 Dec. 2011.

The films, 'L’Oeuf de la Trahison' (fiction) and 'Les Derniers Travailleurs' (documentary), were selected after a competition organized a few weeks ago by the Malian private film-making company Brico Films.

'L’Oeuf de la Trahision' and 'Les Derniers Travailleurs' are 13 minutes long each, and were directed by Mariama Cheikhna Kamissoko and Moustapha Diaalo respectively.

The festival, for young directors in the countries of the West African Economic and Monetary Union (WAEMU), aims to promote the film industry and broadcasting, develop creativity and encourage young people to become familiar with new technology of broadcasting.

It also promotes cultural integration at sub-regional level.
