Damaturu-Maiduguri Nigeria - Huge blasts reported in two Nigerian cities - Two huge, simultaneous blasts were heard in the Nigerian northern cities of Damaturu and Maiduguri on Wednesday evening, polices sources said, fearing they could be bombs detonated by the Islamic sect Boko Haram.
The sources said no further details were yet available.
Damaturu, the capital of Yobe state, and Maiduguri, capital of Borno state, have been the hotbeds of the Boko Haram attacks that have left many dead or injured.
The two cities are among areas covered by the State of Emergency recently imposed on some parts of the country by President Goodluck Jonathan, after Boko Haram claimed responsibility for coordinated attacks that left 49 dead on Christmas Day.
