2014 World Cup: 10 African teams advance to group stage - Ten African teams have advanced to next year's group stage of the qualifying series for the 2014 World Cup in Brazil. The 10 teams are the aggregate winners of the home-and-away matches played in the preliminaries, which rounded off on Tuesday except for the return-leg match between Ethiopia and Somalia.
The qualifiers are Tanzania, Mozambique, Namibia, Equatorial Guinea, Rwanda, Togo, Lesotho, Congo, Kenya and DR Congo.
Together with Liberia which drew a bye into the group stage, following Mauritius' withdrawal, and the winner of the yet-to-be played Ethiopia-Somalia return match, 12 teams overall will advance to the group stage to join the 28 other teams that also drew a bye. The 40 teams will be divided into 10 groups of four teams each, and the group winners will progress to the third and final stage, where the five aggregate winners of the home-and-away format will qualify to represent Africa at the 2014 World Cup. Congo 1-1 Sao Tome and Principe
- Congo qualifies 6-1 on aggregate
Rwanda 3-1 Eritrea
- Rwanda qualifies 4-2 on aggregate
Togo 1-0 Guinea-Bissau
- Togo qualifies 2-1 on aggregate
Congo DR 5-1 Swaziland
- Congo DR qualifies 8-2 on aggregate
Madagascar 2-1 Equatorial Guinea
- Equatorial Guinea qualifies 3-2 on aggregate
Kenya 4-0 Seychelles
- Kenya qualifies 7-0 on aggregate
Tanzania 0-1 Chad
- Tanzania qualifies on away goals rule , after both drew 2-2 on aggregate
Mozambique 4-1 Comoros
- Mozambique qualifies 5-1 on aggregate
Namibia 4-0 Djibouti
- Namibia qualifies 8-0 on aggregate
Burundi 2-1 Lesotho
- Lesotho qualifies on away goals rule, after both teams drew 2-2 on aggregate.
