Bujumbura, Burundi - South African president Jacob Zuma arrived on Wednesday in Bujumbura at the head of a delegation of 150 economic operators for a three-day state visit to Burundi.
The high-powered delegation of South African economic operators would explore investment possibilities in Burundi, president Zuma said in a press briefing after a closed-door meeting with his Burundian counterpart, Pierre Nkurunziza.
The second day of Mr Zuma’s visit focused on a meeting between the ministerial delegations from both countries.
The heads the two delegations signed a general cooperation agreement on bilateral cooperation in energy, scientific research, tourism and defence.
President Zuma will address the Burundian Parliament and lay the foundation stone for the building of a headquarters of the South African embassy in Bujumbura.
