Basically, Akintunde said "the aim of the show is to in sensitize British investors about the investment potentials and opportunity in Nigeria and to be able to take this up. adding that Britain is expected to increase it investment ins Nigeria"
A representative of the Director UKTI, Mr. Peter Stephenson who was suppose to be key speaker, Mr. Andy Davidson said states are getting better, they are getting more savvy in terms of knowing what their offering is and were opportunity lies.
Davidson said "I think there is also an information gap, some places, some states, some department don't know actually what it is they have to offer one to do"
Going further he said, agriculture is such an important sector in Nigeria, it was a bread basket 50 years ago and I don't think there is any reason it shouldn't be a bread basket today.
According to him, the UKTI department has had two event with partners and stakeholders to highlight those important relationships, important opportunities to change peoples perception about Nigeria.
He however, pointed that even if China is a strong competitor, there is need to find a competitive advantage to compete, adding that Nigeria is a capitalist society despite the fact that it operates in a capitalist world.
" I don't worry about the competition, I worry about the control of what I do with my company, is in line with all of those legislative issues about Uk and Nigeria" he said.
Still on perception, Olusola Obadimu, Director General of the Chamber, said there is this continual effort brought by the British high commission, the UK trade and investment which is popularly called the UKTI chamber and other stakeholders to ensure that negative perception that is globally held about Nigeria is being corrected
Obadimu said negative perception issues actually challenges that can be taped into business opportunities, like bad roads, the problem of power supply. He stressed that negative perception can be corrected through the trade map initiated by the President Goodluck Jonathan.
"Basically, this is another effort to correct the negative perception and the to present Ngeria as a good business destination".
