Conakry, Guinea - The government of Guinea on Friday appealed to Interpol to arrest and extradite back home two fugitive soldiers involved in 18 July abortive coup attempt in the West African country. They are Lieutenant Amadou Oury Bah and Lieutenant Mamadou Bôbô Diallo, who were among many peple wanted in the coup attempt to oust President Alpha Condé, well informed sources told PANA in Conakry.
On 18 July, armed men opened fire on the private residence of President Condé, at Kipé, in the remote suburbs of Conakry, the country's capital city.
Lt. Bah is the second Deputy chairman of the Union of the Democratic Forces of Guinea (UFDG) of Cellou Dalein Diallo, the man who lost the second round of last December's presidential election to President Condé.
The fugitive opposition leader recently denied involvement in the failed coup.
He maintained, however, that 'everything will be done' to prevent President Condé from working quietly.
Enquiries carried out by the police and gendarmerie have led to the arrest of about 30 persons, mainly commissioned army officers, who were very close to the president of the transitional period, General Sékouba Konaté.
The former army chief of staff, General Nouhoum Thiam and principal private secretary of the president of the transition, General Bachir Diallo, and national and foreign businessmen feature among the persons arrested.
