Football - The former president of Olympique de Marseille (OM), Pape Diouf, has pledged to 'support and assist' a programme aimed at promoting and developing soccer in Mauritania. Diouf, who arrived in Nouakchott on Monday at the invitation of candidates for the presidency of the Mauritanian Football Federation, made the pledge during a debate on “realities and prospects of soccer in this country”. Diouf has signed on to the project for the reform and development of soccer in Mauritania, while saying he does not have a candidate for the leadership of the federation.
The former strongman of Olympique de Marseille particularly expressed his willingness to share his experience and learn from the experience of Mauritanian football officials.
