CAF names top 3 for 2011 African Footballer of the Year award - African soccer's governing body, CAF, on Wednesday announced the top three players for the 2011 African Footballer of the Year Award. The finalists, announced in a statement posted on the CAF website, are Andre Ayew (Olympique Marseille and Ghana), (Seydou Keita (Barcelona and Mali) and Yaya Toure (Manchester City and Cote d’Ivoire).
Moussa Sow of Lille and Senegal and Samuel Eto'o of Anzhi and Cameroon were dropped from the initial list of five shortlisted players.
The winner will be decided by votes by the head coaches or Technical Directors of the National Associations affiliated to CAF.
The 2011 Glo-CAF Awards Gala will be held on Thursday (22 December) at the Banquet Hall, State House in Accra, Ghana.
