Protest subsidy removal - A good number of youths today took to the streets in Kano to stage a peaceful demonstration in protest against government's removal of fuel subsidy that translated into Sunday's hiking of petrol price from N65 per liter to N144 per liter by the Petroleum Products Pricing Regulatory Agency (PPPRA). Similarly, the National Association of Kano State Students (NAKSS) has given the federal government a 24 hour ultimatum to rescind its decision, failure of which they will be left with no option other than to stage a violent riot to express their anger to the world over government's insensitivity to the Nigerian masses.

The protesters marched from BUK Road through Kadon Kaya, Sani Mainagge and Sabon Titi in the ancient city of Kano towards Kano Government House displaying various placards that bore different anti subsidy removal slogans.

The protesting youths however dispersed when they were told of Governor Engineer Rabiu Kwankwaso's absence.

Also the National Association of Kano State Students (NAKSS) also protested the fuel subsidy removal and gave the federal government 24 hour-ultimatum to rescind the decision or stage a violent riot in Kano.

The students led by their national president Baraya Hassan Garba to address newsmen at Kano office of the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN) said Kano students will not accept anything other than the government to rescind its decision.
