African runners sweep Frankfurt Marathon titles - African runners swept the men's and women's titles at Sunday's Frankfurt Marathon in Germany, winning all top 10 titles in the men's race and the top five in the women's, according to the sport's world governing body, IAAF. In the men's event, Kenyan runners won 9 out of the 10 top places, with defending champion Wilson Kipsang of Kenya clinching the top prize at a tantalising time of 2 hours, three minutes and 42 seconds - just four seconds of the world record. Another Kenyan, Levy Matebo, was second in 2:05:16 while Albert Matebor also from Kenya was third in 2:06:25. Only Siraj Gena of Ethiopia, who placed 8th in 2:08:31, broke the Kenyans' dominance in the top 10 of the men's race. In the women's event, it was the turn of Ethiopia to shine as Mamitu Daska captured it for her country in 2:21:59.
