Luanda, Angola - Angolan men's senior national handball team on Wednesday defeated Qatar 29-27 in Leiria, Portugal, in the third game of its preparation for the African Handball Championship, taking place in Morocco from 10 to 21 January.

Sérgio Lopes was the best scorer of the national team with eight goals, in a match in which the national coach Filipe Cruz featured 16 players with a view to having more players exposed.

The national squad’s next games will be on Friday with ABC, against Benfica de Lisboa on Saturday and against Sporting on Sunday to end its training tour.

At the African Championship, Angola will be in group A with Egypt, Algeria, Cameroon, Nigeria and Cote d’Ivoire.
