Binta who spoke at a town hall meeting organized for the Gwale community on 2012 budgetary proposal by the Resource Centre for Human Right and Civic Education (CHRICED) with support from Musereor/KZE Germany, said people with the disease were finding it very difficult to foot their medical bills.

"I'm calling on government to kindly assist people suffering from hypertension, diabetes, and liver problems. These people need to be given special assistance because of the nature of their illnesses and the level of poverty that many of them live in," Binta said, adding that many people live with the illnesses and have no means of getting medication.

Earlier in his speech, the executive director of (CHRICED) Ibrahim M. Zikrullah said the town hall meeting was aimed at involving members of the community in the budget process of their local government.
