Elections-Nigeria - Nasarawa State Police Command has paraded a serving member of the federal House of Representative representing Nasarawa Eggon , Akwanga and Wamba constituency in the National assembly Hon. Isah Ambaka, for hiring thugs outside the state to disrupt last Saturday's postponed election. Hon. Ambaka who was paraded alongside the 32 alleged suspected thugs was said to have hired the mercenaries from Maiduguri, in Borno State and lodged them in a Hotel in Akwanga. Speaking during a press conference at the police headquarters along Makurdi road Lafia, the state police commissioner, Emmanuel Obiako, said that the 32 suspects were arrested on Friday last week in a hotel in Akwanga.
The commissioner of police added that the suspects were arrested un armed and had confessed on interrogation to have been hire by Ambaka to work for him on election day as agents.
Ambaka who is the labour party candidate for Nasarawa Eggon, Akwanga and Wamba federal constituency, told newsmen that he hired the 32 boys to serve as agents during the last election and denied that the boys were members of Boko Haram brought to disrupt the last Saturday's postponed election.
The lawmaker who dumped ANPP for Labour Party said he got the boys through a friend from Maiduguri, adding that they were to be used as precautionary measures to help him man the polling units in his constituency.
Also paraded were some youths involved in the crisis that broke out in karu as results of party agents playing INEC's role during last Saturday's botch election by announcing the postponement of the election which angered the people.
The police said that both the lawmaker and the 32 suspects would soon be arraigned before a court of law for prosecution while calling on the public to be vigilant.
