Egypt's squash champion wins second US Open title in 3 years

Cairo, Egypt - Four-time world squash champion Amr Shabanah of Egypt, claimed his second US Open title in three years on Thursday after defeating top-seed Nick Matthew of Britain by three sets to one.

The final scoreline read (11/9, 8/11, 11/2 and 11/4) for Shabanah.

His win against Matthew in the US Open came just two weeks after the Englishman had beaten him in the British Grand Prix.

The US Open is the fifth Players Squash Association (PSA) World Series event this year.

The 32-year-old Shabanah won a handsome prize of US$ 115,000 in the tournament, played in Philadelphia.

Squash is considered Egypt's most successful sport, with many male and female players at the senior and junior levels gathering trophies that have also included several team titles in the last couple of decades.
